    Colin P. Derdeyn, M.D. is the Krabbenhoft Professor and Chair of the Department of Radiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is also a professor of neurology and neurological surgery, with a focus on endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disease, including ischemic stroke.

    Dr. Derdeyn received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from the University of Virginia. He transitioned from Neurosurgery to Radiology to pursue training in endovascular treatment of cerebrovascular disease under the mentorship of key figures in the field.

    His research interests predominantly revolve around occlusive cerebrovascular disease and cerebral hemodynamics. Dr. Derdeyn has a notable background in stroke-related clinical trials and has served in various national leadership roles within the medical community.

    He has held significant positions at esteemed institutions, including directing the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging and serving as the former Director of the Stroke and Cerebrovascular Center at Washington University School of Medicine. Dr. Derdeyn has also chaired multiple DSMBs for clinical trials and supervised image cores for various research projects.
