    Colin Carlson

PhD Candidate at University of California, Berkeley

Colin Carlson is a dedicated researcher with a keen interest in understanding the impact of climate change on extinction processes and biodiversity loss's effect on the rise of infectious diseases.

His research focuses on developing statistical models based on community ecology data to assess the extinction risk of various parasites at large biogeographic scales, explore the relationship between parasite diversity and the mitigation of harmful pathogens at the metacommunity level, and study the epidemiology and community ecology of emerging zoonotic diseases such as Ebola hemorrhagic fever.

Colin Carlson holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Environmental Studies from The University of Connecticut, a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master of Science (M.S.) in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology from The University of Connecticut, and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from The University of Connecticut.

He has contributed to academia as a Graduate Student Instructor at UC Berkeley and has previous experience as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Connecticut and as an Intern at the Office of Policy at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
