Cllr Murray is a highly educated individual with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Cambridge and a First-class B.Sc (hon) in Chemistry from The University of Edinburgh.
With a rich history of involvement in political and academic spheres, Cllr Murray has held various positions at The Scottish Parliament including Vice Convener of the Justice Committee, Shadow Minister for Community Safety and Legal Affairs, Shadow Minister for Housing and Transport, Shadow Minister for Environment, Shadow Minister for Enterprise, and Vice Convenor of the Finance Committee.
In addition to his political roles, Cllr Murray has also served as the Deputy Minister for Tourism Culture and Sport at The Scottish Parliament, a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP), and an Associate Lecturer at the Open University.
Furthermore, Cllr Murray has valuable experience as an Assistant to a Member of the European Parliament, a Tutor at Thisletrain, a Senior Scientific Officer at the National Institute for Food Research, a Research Fellow at the Royal Free Hospital, and a Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge.
