Clara Baleine

Clara Baleine is a distinguished professional in the field of Applied Research and Development (R&D) with a strong focus on advanced material development including infrared materials, coatings, and windows.

Throughout her career, Clara has received notable awards and recognition, including the 2019 University of Central Florida, CREOL–The College of Optics and Photonics Distinguished Alumni Award, the 2016 NOVA Award for Technical Innovation from Lockheed Martin Corporation, the 2016 Technical Innovation Award from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, and being recognized as Professional of the Week in Great Minds in STEM in 2015.

With multiple patents to her name, Clara Baleine has made significant contributions to the field, including patents for glass composites with gradient index of refraction, ternary glass materials with low refractive index variability, nano-antenna array infrared imager, optical element surface alteration for correcting wavefront error, reconfigurable phase change material masks for electro-optical compressive sensing, plasmonic coatings for reflectors, and sol-gel coating methods among others.

In addition to her patent success, Clara Baleine has also contributed to various esteemed journal publications, showcasing her expertise in areas such as crystallization behavior of laser-irradiated patterns, deep learning for all-dielectric metasurface design, infrared glass-ceramics, and reconfigurable near-IR metasurfaces.

Clara's educational background includes studying Materials Science at Université Bordeaux I and Optics at the University of Central Florida, where she pursued her PhD studies.
