Claire Kuttler
Extra Chorus at THE METROPOLITAN OPERA
Claire Kuttler is an accomplished lyric soprano hailing from Iowa. Known for her "glistening torrents of sound" by Opera News, she has performed in various operatic and concert productions throughout the United States. She recently performed as Mimì in La Bohème for Anchorage Opera and Countess Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro for Bel Cantanti Opera in Washington, D.C. She has also made her Carnegie Hall debut as the soprano soloist in Brahms' Ein Deutsches Requiem, portrayed Bea in Jake Heggie’s Three Decembers for Opera Birmingham, Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow for both New Rochelle Opera and Long Island Opera, and Alexis in Offenbach's The Island of Tulipatan with the Light Opera of New York.
Before her successes in the opera world, Claire earned various degrees with honors from Concordia College, the University of Maryland, College Park, and Mannes College of Music. She has also been widely involved in various musical organizations, including Palm Beach Opera, Central City Opera, the Fargo Moorhead Opera, the Green Mountain Opera Festival, the Crested Butte Music Festival, Opera LaFayette, the Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, and the New Jersey Festival Orchestra.
Her skills and expertise have now led her to be an active voice teacher as well. She currently serves on the voice faculties of three non-profit music education programs: The Highbridge Voices, ArtSmart, and the California State Summer School for the Arts. Claire is passionate about equitable access to music education and shares her talents with aspiring students.
Claire currently resides in New York City and continues to be a rising star in the opera world, captivating audiences with her soulful performances and dedication to her craft.
