Christopher Oberste is the President and Chief Engineer at WEAV3D Inc., a company focused on advanced manufacturing and materials technology. He holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech, where he also completed a minor in technology commercialization. Additionally, he earned a Bachelor's degree in Polymer and Fiber Engineering from Auburn University.14
Before founding WEAV3D in 2017, Oberste gained practical experience as a process engineer at GKN Aerospace North America through an Auburn University co-op program. His doctoral research concentrated on developing innovative, low-cost composite manufacturing processes, which laid the groundwork for WEAV3D's technology.12 He is recognized as the lead inventor on five patents related to WEAV3D's composite forming technology.1
Under his leadership, WEAV3D has received several accolades for its contributions to sustainable materials and lightweighting solutions in the automotive industry. Notably, the company won the 2024 Altair Enlighten Award for its Rebar for Plastics® Lattice Technology, which integrates Braskem's polypropylene with WEAV3D's composite lattice to create high-strength, lightweight materials.23
