Christopher Clack

Christopher Clack is currently the Vice President of Integrated Energy Systems Planning at Pattern Energy Group.5 He was previously the founder and CEO of Vibrant Clean Energy, LLC (VCE), which he established in 2015.4 Clack sold VCE to Pattern Energy Group in March 2023.3

Dr. Clack holds a PhD in applied mathematics and plasma physics from the University of Sheffield.1 He is an expert in mathematics, statistics, optimization, numerical weather prediction, electrical engineering, and economics, which he applies to study future energy systems.1

At VCE, Clack and his team created the WIS® optimization model to investigate various future energy systems, focusing on high penetration levels of renewables, electrification of end uses, advanced technologies, and climate change resilience.1

Before founding VCE, Clack worked as a Research Scientist II at the University of Colorado (2012-2016) and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the National Academy of Sciences (2011-2012).5 He has also served in the British Army and worked as a gym instructor.5

Clack is known for his work in renewable energy integration, grid modeling, and climate change mitigation strategies. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and books on these topics.2
