Christopher Buchanan is a media executive with an extensive background in managing companies, content, and artists. With over two decades of experience, Buchanan is a fearless leader ranging from entertainment to front-line entrepreneurial. Currently, he serves as Director of Business Development for Samsung Electronics America. Previously, at Thismoment, a global social media marketing company, Buchanan oversaw its Partner Network, looking after the company's strategic partnerships and relationships with agencies, developers, and technology providers. At Amazon, he helped create Amazon Studios and was responsible for licensing film and television programming for Amazon Video On Demand.
In the entertainment industry, Buchanan also ran Jerry Weintraub Productions at Warner Bros, overseeing the development of a range of films, including the box-office hit, OCEAN’S ELEVEN. He also served as President of Joss Whedon's Mutant Enemy at 20th Century Fox, where he oversaw production of critically acclaimed and influential shows such as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, ANGEL & FIREFLY, and Whedon's feature debut, SERENITY, at Universal Pictures. At the start of his career, he worked for Sony Pictures Entertainment in New York as programming and acquisitions executive.
Buchanan's specialties include strategic partnerships, business development, revenue generation, digital media distribution, IP acquisition and licensing, film and television development and production, branded entertainment, and social media marketing. As a graduate of Harvard University, Buchanan's knowledge in the entertainment industry has led to founding and co-founding of companies such as Flixer, a venture-backed, technology start-up.
