Christopher Baker-Brian
Co-founder & MD Product Division at BBOXX
Christopher Baker-Brian is the co-founder and Managing Director of BBOXX's Product Division, a venture-backed company dedicated to providing affordable, clean energy solutions to off-grid communities in developing countries.
Chris, along with two fellow students from Imperial College London, established BBOXX in 2010. Since then, the company has experienced rapid growth, deploying over 400,000 solar kits and positively impacting more than 1,500,000 lives in Africa and Asia.
Currently, BBOXX operates in 15 countries with a team of over 3000 full and part-time employees. The company has secured investments from notable firms like Kholsa Impact, Synergy Growth, and ENGIE, among others.
In his role as the MD of the Product Division, Chris directs the development of innovative rural electrification solutions and software products to enhance BBOXX's global operations. He also manages supply chain activities across Asia and Africa.
Chris Baker-Brian's expertise lies in rural electrification, product design, energy strategy, power systems, electronics, and other areas of electrical engineering.
His academic background includes a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with 1st Class Honours from Imperial College London.
Prior to his current position, Chris held various roles at BBOXX, including Co-founder & Chief Technology Officer, and has previous experience as a Professional Excellence Graduate Trainee at Rolls-Royce, Chief Electrical Engineer at Imperial Racing Green, and Laboratory Technician at Shell Global Solutions.
