Christian Nielsen
ErhvervsPhD-studerende hos Idrættens Analyseinstitut
Christian Gjersing Nielsen is currently an ErhvervsPhD candidate at the Idrætten Analyseinstitut (Danish Institute for Sports Studies), where he is conducting a PhD project titled "Local Effects of Sports Events: A Welfare Economic Perspective," which runs from 2021 to 2024. This research aims to measure both tangible and intangible effects generated by sports events at local and national levels. His project is a collaboration between the Idrættens Analyseinstitut and the Institute for Sociology, Environment, and Business Economics at the University of Southern Denmark, supported by Innovationsfonden.13
Nielsen holds a cand.merc degree from the University of Southern Denmark and has been employed at the Idrættens Analyseinstitut since 2015. He has also contributed to various academic publications focusing on the economic impacts of sports, including studies on the effects of elite sports on mass participation and regional economies influenced by major sporting events like Formula 1 and the Tour de France.12
