After joining Deliveroo, I saw Uber Eats come to town so I thought it would be rude not to use both to maximise my earnings.

I fell in love with on-demand logistics and decided to dive right in to learn first-hand about being gig-worker – I worked a few evenings a week to pay the bills in the early stages of Carryr's development... I delivered over 3,000 orders and got some well-needed exercise!

Finished with: As Covid-19 restrictions were lifted stores began to open up so we continued where we left off to build the delivery option of the future for fashion & apparel retailers to give their customers an immediate 90-min delivery or to schedule hourly slots.

2020: Just weeks after launching a pilot in Cambridge, we took a temporary Covid-19 pivot for a few months to deliver click & collect groceries and face shields for NHS staff and the vulnerable

2020: After having a lot of requests that we could not fulfil due to products being out of stock we started building out a more integrated approach (to be in the checkout and to view inventory).

2018 -2019: After noticing the constant frustration with online delivery providers I started to experiment with ideas to bring the on-demand experience to e-commerce. We started with a concierge on-demand Facebook Messenger chatbot and, briefly, a click & collect delivery service.

2017: After wrapping up my previous stint with En Time, I started exploring ways to enable the same service for consumers – it was basically an Uber clone for package delivery.

Basically contacted local couriers to provide them with more work. To give the driver the work we went door-knocking around Cambridge businesses. This was my introduction to the logistics industry and I loved offering a same-day service.

As an introvert, I developed my "sales personality" to be less conventional which customers became more relaxed with. I took my customer-focused approach and management experience to help me shape my sales technique to sell over £1m of furniture annually in a £4.5m store. Having being in direct control of my 14 KPIs, I got the instant feedback I needed to improve my sales presentation.

After a lot of hard work, my Regional Manager recommended to move into a management position. This enabled me to understand the store's operations in greater detail so that I could further improve the product offering, service and the team for amazing results. My team, in humble Cambridge, beat Oxford Street (London) multiple times when we started selling Crep Protect – this got me really into the sales mindset!

After deciding not to continue my studies at university (got accepted at a top-tier private music production & engineering university) I took retail more seriously and welcomed more progression. This role was to be more involved in building the team and directing them toward the goal of customer satisfaction and increasing average order value. This was the first step I took away from the shop floor to discover and learn the operations of retailing.

Continued to focus on the customer experience with more responsibilities as a keyholder, plus I learnt a lot about how to merchandise great display walls.

At the age of 15 I couldn't afford music equipment for my home studio so I convinced my mum to take up a part-time job delivering the Yellow Pages. I delivered them and she did the driving and we split the cash.

A self-taught engineer and producer (thank you YouTube) from the age of 14, ended up building a home recording studio and sold music online. Anything from created Soul, Funk, Hiphop/Rap, Rock, Pop, Reggae - you name it, I created it and loved it!
