Sir Chris Husbands is a renowned educationist, academic, and university leader with extensive experience in the education sector. He is currently the Vice-Chancellor at Sheffield Hallam University, one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom, and has held senior leadership positions in several UK universities. Sir Husbands has also worked as a visiting professor and undertaken consultancy in several countries worldwide.
He is committed to research and development that can enhance outcomes and opportunities for children and young people globally. His expertise and research on education policy, teaching, and curriculum have attracted over £6 million in external funding and have been disseminated through over 400 publications, including 12 books, as well as journalism and presentations worldwide.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Sir Husbands has served the public in several capacities, such as chairing the UK government's Teaching Excellence Framework and the board of Yorkshire Universities, undertaking work as part of the independent Skills TaskForce and the UK's Higher Education Statistics Agency. He is an Honorary Fellow of Emmanuel College Cambridge and of University College London, a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences, and a Knight, having been awarded the honor for his contributions to education in 2018.
