Chris Hernandez

Christopher Hernandez is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Bioengineering at the University of California, San Francisco. He also serves as the Director of the Health Innovations Via Engineering (HIVE) center at UC San Francisco. Previously, he was a Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. His technical expertise includes orthopaedics, microbiome, preclinical models, mechanical engineering, and materials science. Hernandez has led a research laboratory with continuous support from the NIH since 2007, as well as funding from the NSF and the Department of Defense. He has held leadership positions in medical research societies, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Orthopaedic Research Society and as a committee chair with the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research. His scientific articles have been published in prestigious journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the USA and the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.1
