Chris Chambers
Leading the NUAR digital transformation programme at the Geospatial Commission – delivering £490m pa economic value
Chris Chambers is the Head of Public Sector Geospatial Agreement at Ordnance Survey (OS), where he is leading a £1Bn investment in new data, software, technology, and customer support services to enhance the value of OS' location data and foster innovation in the public and private sectors.
Under Chris's leadership, OS is undergoing a transformation by improving its location data accessibility through new web services and data products, while also streamlining licensing, expanding customer and technical support capabilities, and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders and customers.
Chris is responsible for overseeing Ordnance Survey's primary commercial contract with the Government, ensuring the achievement of targets and overall customer satisfaction across various sectors. He manages a large team of over 900 experts across different functions to meet goals related to data accuracy, software performance, customer satisfaction, and profitability.
Collaborating with key stakeholders within Ordnance Survey and beyond, Chris ensures that the organization not only meets but exceeds its objectives, leading to successful outcomes for government entities, emergency services, education providers, developers, and the private sector. His efforts have contributed to enhanced service provision, improved decision-making, and effective responses to challenges like the Covid-19 pandemic.
Chris Chambers holds a 2:1 degree in Geographic Information Science from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and has completed programs like the Future Leaders Scheme at Civil Service and Making Innovation Happen at London Business School. With a rich background at Ordnance Survey, he has held key roles such as Strategic Programme Lead, Geospatial Policy Lead, Senior Product Manager, Director, and various other positions demonstrating his expertise in geospatial technology and management.
