    Charles Yoder

    Independent Fine Art Professional

Charles Yoder, born in Germany in 1948 and raised in the United States, is a distinguished artist and educator with a rich background in the art world.

He pursued a Liberal Arts program with a focus on Art/Art Studies at the University of Maine (Orono) before earning a BFA in Painting and Printmaking from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn.

Throughout his career, Yoder has held various roles to support his art, including serving as the director of Leo Castelli Graphics, curator for renowned artist Robert Rauschenberg, and currently as a full-time painter and part-time printmaking instructor at the School of Visual Arts.

Yoder's artistic journey took a transformative turn when he transitioned from an abstract painter to a realist painter one winter's night, inspired by the interplay of light and shadows in his backyard during a moonlit evening.

His art now centers around letting the observed dictate its creation, with a focus on the natural rhythms of light and dark, turning each piece into a meditation on the initial inspiration.
