Charles Miller
A passion for telling "Stories of Science" with an aim of revitalizing the experiences patrons get from science museums
Charles Kohei Miller is a passionate advocate for informal science education, with a focus on the importance of enthusiastic and knowledgeable presenters.
Having extensive experience in scientific research, Charles emphasizes the role of well-trained docents in museums to effectively communicate 'The Stories of Science'.
Over a three-year period, Charles founded and led a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing engaging science experiences, particularly in the field of space science, for local schools and citizens.
His efforts included creating exhibits such as a planetarium projector and dome to showcase scientific concepts and increase interest.
Charles holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Ph.D. in Auditory Physiology, with additional post-doctoral studies in Behavior and Neurophysiology of Hearing and Auditory Psychophysics.
His professional background includes roles as a Senior Research Associate, Director of Rediscover Science / Iowa Space Science Center, and Visiting Professor at Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon.
He has also been involved in various capacities at the University of Iowa, from Principle Investigator to Adjunct Associate Professor.
Additionally, Charles has experience as a Test Systems Engineer at Motorola and as a member of local media-reform group Iowans for Better Local Television (IBLTV).
