Chanelle Bell
Managing Director, Public and Community Affairs at Teach For America
Chanelle Bell is a passionate educational advocate known for her dynamic and fierce advocacy. Her ability to build meaningful connections with diverse individuals has earned her the nickname 'the connector'. With a background in Theatre from Fordham University and a Master's in Education from Dominican University, Chanelle's journey in education started at a young age when she became the Assistant Editor of The Post News Group, focusing on highlighting Black Excellence and analyzing the education landscape in Oakland.
Chanelle's commitment to addressing educational inequity led her to Chicago, where she taught preschool while pursuing her Master's degree. She later transitioned to roles at Noble Network of Charter Schools, empowering parents and engaging in community affairs. Her impactful work has been featured in various publications, highlighting her dedication to the South Side communities in Chicago.
In addition to her professional roles, Chanelle is a published writer and actress using art to shed light on inequities and inspire action against injustices. She is the Managing Director of Public and Community Affairs at Teach For America Chicago/NWI, and has founded Positively Melanin, an organization aimed at empowering Black youth and showcasing Black excellence across industries. Chanelle's involvement in the Obama Foundation Community Leadership Cohort and speaking engagements, including at TEDxNaperville, demonstrate her commitment to driving positive change in education and beyond.
