Chandra Tjan is a seasoned professional with a solid background in the banking and investment sectors, having started his career at Citigroup and Credit Suisse in Singapore.
Recognizing the potential in the technology industry in Indonesia, Chandra co-founded East Ventures in 2009, establishing himself as a trailblazing Venture Capitalist in the region.
His early investments in startups played a pivotal role in the growth of the tech scene in Indonesia, with notable successes including backing unicorns like Tokopedia and Traveloka.
In 2015, Chandra co-founded Alpha JWC Ventures, a prominent VC fund focusing on early-stage tech startups across Southeast Asia, particularly in Indonesia.
With an extensive track record in tech investment spanning over a decade, Chandra has invested in over 60 companies across Asia and the United States, with successful exits in companies like Shopline and AtlasWearables.
His investment portfolio includes leading tech companies in the region such as Kopi Kenangan, Ajaib, Carro, and Zenius, among others.
Chandra holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Sydney with majors in finance, economics, and management. Currently, he is pursuing the Owner-President Management Program at Harvard Business School and is an active member of the Young President Organization (YPO).
