Career at AWS

Chandra Balani joined AWS in September 2013, during the initial stages of AWS's operations in India. He started as part of a small team in Hyderabad and was responsible for various roles including field sales, inside sales, partner management, marketing, and training. Over the years, he has played a crucial role in the expansion of AWS in India, including geographic expansion into the SAARC region (Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and Maldives).2

Current Responsibilities

As the Head of Global Enterprise at AWS India, Chandra Balani is responsible for managing the Global Enterprise business, which includes Global Verticals & Strategic Accounts (GVSA), Global Financial Services Accounts (GFS), and Global System Integrator Accounts (GSI). He works with some of the largest and most strategic customers of AWS globally across various industries such as BFSI, Auto, Manufacturing, HCLS, Media, High Tech, and more.1

Previous Roles

Before his current role, Chandra Balani served as the Head of Geographic Expansion for India & SAARC at AWS from September 2013 to December 2019. Prior to joining AWS, he worked at Oracle India Private Limited, where he held positions such as MySQL Database Country Sales Sr. Manager and Regional Business Manager - Oracle Enterprise Performance Management Applications. He also worked as Vice President Sales & Marketing at Sphinx Systemhouse Inc from 2004 to 2006.1

Leadership and Initiatives

Chandra Balani is also the Lead for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity (ID&E) Initiatives at AWS India. He has been instrumental in various initiatives aimed at improving gender diversity, including creating gender-neutral job descriptions, referral drives, inclusion training sessions, and programs to nurture women leaders.
