Chad Payne

Chad Payne is an accomplished In-House Legal Counsel with expertise in Business Affairs, Contracts, Business Development, Labor and Employment, M&A, Digital Media, and Athlete Procurement and Management.

Based in Los Angeles, Chad has provided legal counsel to media companies, professional athletes, and emerging brands, focusing on corporate law, contract negotiation, employment law, M&A, athlete licensing, and various legal transactional matters.

Chad is a business-oriented executive with extensive hands-on experience in in-house legal roles, emphasizing revenue growth and client development. He is a member of the State Bar of California.

Chad's education includes a Juris Doctor from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, a B.S. in Political Science from Santa Clara University, and a diploma from St. Xavier High School.

His professional experience includes roles as Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs at The Players' Tribune, Corporate Counsel at MediaShift, Corporate Counsel & Business Development at JockTalk, and Athlete Licensing Associate at Encore Sports & Entertainment, LLC.

Chad has also served as a Legal Intern in the Office of Vice President & General Counsel at the San Diego Padres and as a Community Relations Manager in the Office of the Mayor at the City of San José.
