He holds a Master's degree in Econometrics from the University of Groningen and completed the Non-Executive Chamber Program at Hemingway Professional Governance.

Detmer Koekoek's career has included executive positions at ING Insurance and ING Investment Management before his time at NN Group. At NN Group, he served as Director/CCO NN Re, Non-Executive Director / Chairman of the Board NN Re Ireland, and Non-Executive Director IRIL. He was also the Underwriting Program Director at NN Group, where he demonstrated his expertise in underwriting and risk management.
