As the President of FQE® Chemicals, Karl leads all aspects of the Company from sales and business development, P&L, QHSE, marketing, product development and product patents. He was responsible for creating FQE® Chemicals to specifically focus on their innovative chemistries. Karl strategically re-branded the name of the chemicals to include the contaminant, allowing clients to identify quickly which product they would require. Karl recruited the initial team to focus on building FQE® Chemicals as a leading specialty chemical manufacturer in the United States and Canada.

As the Executive Vice-President, Karl led the Company’s overall business development, sales, marketing and in 2013 I assumed responsibility for the Company’s engineering department.Karl established new service lines and trading divisions for the Company - including the formation of the research and development team and technical staffing division. He was the co-lead in the acquisition of a US-based chemical company, adding complimentary world-class chemicals to the Company’s service offerings. Furthermore, Karl expanded the Company’s global footprint to three continents with the addition of Africa, thus increasing the Company’s annual revenue from $29 million in 2012 to over $60 million globally in 2013.While in this role, the Company has been recognized for many top business awards including being named Canada’s Fastest-Growing Company by PROFIT 500 magazine in 2014. In addition, FourQuest Energy was also listed on Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2014 and 2015.

In 2007, Karl co-founded FourQuest Energy, a Company specializing in providing mechanical pre-commissioning services, primarily for the oil and gas industry. In this role, he developed the Company and expanded FourQuest’s global presence to include locations across Canada and the Middle East. Overall, Karl was responsible for the recruitment, training and mentoring of a global sales and marketing team focused on business development and strategy. Furthermore, he developed the Company from $0 to achieve $29 million dollars in annual revenue in 2012 across two continents (North America and Asia).Additionally, during this time FourQuest was nominated for the 2011 Canadian Prairies Entrepreneur of the Year Award by HSBC.

Karl was responsible for the growth development and training of the sales team of 5, along with the further generation of revenue for the region. Key emphasis was given to Fort McMurray, Alberta and the large oil sands plays in that area. He was responsible for generating over $20 Million of sales in 2 years as a new strategic target in this role as team lead, prior to bring promoted to the Manager of the region. (Sales representative 2003-2004, Sales team lead 2004-2005).

Ending his field role as a Project Manager where Karl served 5 years running mechanical pre-commissioning projects across the Middle East and Asia Pacific. He started his oilfield services career in Aberdeen, Scotland as a field technician in March of 1993. Thereafter subsequently holding the positions of Supervisor, Senior Supervisor and Project Coordinator in the North Sea before he transferred to the Middle East in 1998.

Karl was the leader of 2-3 man teams carrying  out maintenance of ship internal telecommunications, missile systems, gun and guidance systems. He served three deployments (Falkland Islands, The Persian Gulf and the Far East tour) during his tenure in the forces.
