Danielle Guillen
Meet Danielle Guillen, a passionate education advocate with extensive experience in policy and organizing support. Raised in the Inland Empire, Danielle was first exposed to the power of equitable education when her parents transferred her to a higher performing elementary school. This small act eventually led Danielle to become a first-generation college student at Yale University, where she realized that many families shared the same struggle to access quality education. Danielle became a math teacher on the Navajo Nation, where she experienced barriers low-income families face in accessing equitable education.
As the former Director of Organizing and Policy for Board District 5 at the Los Angeles Unified School District, Danielle developed a deep understanding of the complexities in education systems. Danielle's work at the LAUSD helped her realize the urgency of building human-centered educational systems. She subsequently founded STEM in the Park and now serves as the Director of Strategic Policy and Organizing Support at Leadership for Educational Equity.
With a Master's degree in Public Policy Analysis from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor's degree in History from Yale University, Danielle is well equipped to tackle the challenges of creating equitable education systems for all. Her experience as a teacher and working policy in LAUSD has given her valuable insights in the educational sector. Danielle's expertise also includes policy and organizing, advocacy, strategic planning, community outreach, and education reform.
