Cassie Kyffin is a marine scientist with a passion for promoting sustainable fishing in local communities. She has a Master of Science in Marine Sciences from Hawaii Pacific University and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Redlands. Cassie’s expertise lies in statistical analysis and database management using R, Excel, and Microsoft Access, fishery stock assessments on data-poor coral reef fisheries, educational tools and resources for community awareness, and community fishery management and integration. She gained valuable experience as a Fishery Biologist Contractor at Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council, a Biological Fishery Technician at Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research, and volunteering during her time at Peace Corps as a Coastal Resource Management Volunteer. Cassie is also a co-founder at Poseidon Fisheries Research LLC. Her extensive research cruise experience at NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration includes contributing to SE-16-01 Samoan Archipelago Fisheries Life History, SE-15-03 Focus Habitat Studies in Pacific Monument Waters, and SE-13-07 Life History Survey-Johnston Atoll.
