Caryl Chinn is a distinguished figure in the culinary event management arena, with a career spanning over two decades. After honing her skills for three years at the prestigious Stars Restaurant in San Francisco under the mentorship of celebrity chef Jeremiah Tower, Caryl took a leap to the cultural epicenter of New York City. Here, she joined Bon Appétit magazine, where she dedicated a remarkable 10 years to the publication. Rising through the ranks to ultimately serve as Senior Special Events Director, she orchestrated many signature events that the magazine is known for today. Her exceptional work on events such as the Wine & Spirits Focus, the Celebrity Chef Golf Invitational, and the Celebrity Chef Ski Race in Beaver Creek, Colorado, showcased her prowess for creating memorable culinary experiences. Additionally, Caryl played a pivotal role in representing Bon Appétit at prestigious gatherings like the Cannes Film Festival, further cementing her status as an influential figure in the culinary world.
In 2005, Caryl's career took another significant turn when she was approached by Karlitz & Company to establish a Culinary Division. Under her guidance, the division quickly flourished, filling a vital niche in the event planning industry focused on culinary-themed gatherings. Caryl developed several innovative special events that captured the essence of the culinary arts, including the renowned Foxwoods Food & Wine Festival and the Legends Guest Chef Series at Yankee Stadium. Her collaboration with Festival Founder Lee Schrager led to the creation of the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival, which has become a hallmark of culinary festivity and excellence.
In 2014, Caryl joined Octagon as Vice President of Culinary Events, where she launched BITE Silicon Valley, a groundbreaking initiative that combined food, technology, and entertainment in the form of a food conference and festival.
Caryl Chinn Culinary Consulting, which she established in 2010, allowed her to further leverage her extensive experience in special events, marketing, public relations, and promotions. Under her consultancy, Caryl produced notable events such as the All-Star Cochon and the Luckyrice Night Market at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, along with efforts for LA Times’ The Taste. Her expertise led her to a subsequent appointment as Executive Director of the Los Angeles Food & Wine Festival, where she was able to blend her relationships with celebrity chefs and restaurateurs with her extensive event management background.
