Calvin Ball

Calvin Ball is the current Howard County Executive in Maryland, having taken office on December 3, 2018. He is notable for being the first African American to hold this position. Prior to his role as County Executive, Ball served as a member of the Howard County Council from 2006 to 2018, where he made history as the youngest Chairperson in the council's history.123

Background and Education

Calvin Ball was born on September 2, 1975, in Catonsville, Maryland. He grew up in Baltimore County and graduated from Woodlawn High School. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion from Towson State University, followed by a Master of Arts in Legal and Ethical Studies from the University of Baltimore. He completed his Doctorate in Education at Morgan State University.245
