Learning And Development Specialist - Southern Africa Lead

In my role as the Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Lead for Africa at Unilever, I am committed to fostering a truly inclusive workplace where every individual feels valued. I lead initiatives that drive diversity across all markets, ensuring that we not only comply with South African legislation but also create a culture of belonging. My role allows me to lead initiatives that not only enhance our workplace culture but also empower individuals from all backgrounds to thrive. Especially in South Africa, where we are on a journey of promoting equal opportunity and fair treatment in employment through the elimination of unfair discrimination.

Strategic Collaboration: Partnering with senior leaders to deploy EDI initiatives that align with both global and Africa-specific objectives.
Skills Development: Overseeing Employment Equity and Skills Development planning to create growth opportunities for diverse talent.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Utilizing data insights to assess our progress and inform decision-making, participating in BBBEE initiatives, and conducting regular audits.
Engagement Initiatives: Facilitating EDI awareness sessions across Africa to inspire a culture of inclusivity and understanding.

Africa Equity Diversity and Inclusion

My role involves responsibilities, such as driving Change Management for the program, enabling the organization to adapt to new processes and technologies. Additionally, I contribute to the development of a Future Fit Customer Operations through relevant training, communication, and analytics. I also support the Future of Work (FOW) strategy, facilitating employee upskilling and reskilling as part of the iOps program. My skill set includes stakeholder influence, global communication, self-organization, and agile project management.

Change Lead

My role includes coordinating the Africa learning calendar, implementing programs in line with global agendas and local needs, and organizing learning logistics and events. I maintain e-learning platforms, drive continuous service improvement within HR Services Learning, and participate in learning projects with global and SC Learning teams. I provide overall support to the business to fulfill their development needs in line with Unilever strategic initiatives with high level customer orientation.

As a Skills Development Facilitator, I oversee WSP/ATR submissions, tax skills reimbursements and led BBBEE audit.  I report on skills development progress in South Africa and manage PWD Learnerships. My key skills include stakeholder and project management, proactive problem-solving, multitasking, and strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with a focus on customer service and relationship management. I work independently and collaboratively, with a solid understanding of skills development.
