Inspiration for Founding Hex

Colgrove, along with co-founders Barry McCardel and Glen Takahashi, were inspired to create Hex based on problems they experienced firsthand working on data analytics products.4 They saw a gap in tools that support cloud-driven analytics workflows and evolved their idea from sharing data scientists' Jupyter notebooks to delivering a collaborative platform for end-to-end data analytics workflows.4

As a CTO, Colgrove has faced various challenges, including transitioning from an engineering role to leading a growing team and ensuring the company's technical direction aligns with its business goals.45
