Cailean Osborne is a Ph.D. Candidate in Social Data Science at the University of Oxford with a diverse background in artificial intelligence policy, journalism, and research. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Edinburgh before moving on to complete his MSc and Ph.D. in Social Science of the Internet and Social Data Science, respectively, at Oxford. Osborne has served as a UK Delegate at the Global Partnership on AI and Council of Europe’s Ad Hoc Committee on AI & Human Rights, tasked with developing ethical standards for artificial intelligence. Additionally, he worked as an International Policy Advisor at NHSX during the COVID-19 pandemic before working as an International Policy Lead at the Centre for Data Ethics & Innovation, where he helped develop policies for the ethical use of data.
