Engineering Manager at Stripe

Building Connect, our payments product for marketplaces and platforms. Connect powers Stripe's largest users and makes it easy for them to not only accept money from customers, but also manage their funds and pay them out to third parties.

Previously, I worked on our Systems, Developer Tools, and IT Engineering teams. We scaled out our infrastructure and teams to meet the growing needs of our users. 

Along the way, worked on incident response and postmortems, designing interview loops for engineering managers at all levels, acquiring and acquihiring companies, and rolling out ladders and levels.

Projects included:
-  revamp of tips and todos
-  infrastructure for queues and asynchronous tasks
-  photos product and photo resizing infrastructure
-  Scala stuff (style guide, library policy, version upgrades, sbt build, community outreach)
-  localization framework for API
-  type-safe Mongo query library (Rogue)
-  object-document mapper (Spindle)
-  improving ads coverage
-  various disasters and emergencies (intractable concurrency bugs, Super Bowl promotions, etc)

Worked on the Content and Community team. Added birthday notifications to the Network Updates system. Worked on an entirely redesigned Inbox. Hosted weekly internal Scala lunches and bimonthly Bay Area Scala Enthusiasts meetups.
