At this mid-sized regional law firm, I specialized in civil defense of nursing home and long-term care facilities, and hospital and medical malpractice. In my role, I handled an individual case load from start to finish, including research, reviewing and analyzing discovery, regular reports to insurers, communication with clients, interviews with witnesses, and motion drafting. I also argued motions to dismiss and motions for summary judgment and handled the settlement of multiple cases.

At this small plaintiff-side civil litigation firm, I specialized in civil defense of sexual abuse survivors. In my role, I assisted in all phases of litigation, from initial client interviews, research, and discovery process, to negotiation and settlement.

During my second semester in the Criminal Clinic, I researched, wrote, and argued motions for the Commonwealth including Motion for Summons Pursuant to MA Rule of Criminal Procedure 17, Motion to Allow In-Court Identification of Defendant at Trial, Motion to Amend Complaint, Motion to Exclude Medical Documentation, and Motion for Forfeiture.I also prosecuted cases from start to finish, and “mocked” multiple trials and motions, including an Operating Under the Influence (“OUI”) trial, a multi-witness Probation Violation hearing, and all motions mentioned above.

Over my summer at the Dorchester District Attorney's office, I worked closely with ADAs on cases, and took charge of several of my own. For these cases, I researched, wrote and argued both for and against motions to suppress and against motions to dismiss. I also wrote multiple other motions and memorandums.I also second-sat arraignment sessions on a weekly basis and made strategic decisions regarding individual bail arguments and case dismissals, and then argued such matters before the court. I answered on multiple cases per session.

Rule 3:03 Prosecutor

As a 2L in my first semester of the Criminal Clinic, I researched case law and drafted motions, memoranda, and briefs on issues involving competency to stand trial and dismissal due to lack of the ability of the prosecution to prove its case; as well as statutes in Massachusetts pertaining to OUI and breathalyzers, distribution of drugs, and assault and battery and resisting arrest. I also provided assistance to supervising senior student attorneys by meeting with clients, victims, and witnesses and preparing potential witness lists with testimony topics and proposed questions.

As an intern in the Major Felony Unit, I drafted motions and memorandums on various legal subjects and case law, including dismissal and suppression. I observed criminal trials and discussed observations with the ADA on the case, receiving feedback on my thoughts and suggestions. I also assisted in preparing cases for trial by performing various tasks such as evidence review, including reviewing surveillance video and listening to jail calls.

The United Faculty of Miami Dade College (UFMDC) is the professors' union for the largest public college in the country, Miami Dade College. As Political Director, I performed all political tasks related to the union, namely organizing the UFMDC Candidates’ Academy and fellowship program, training over 500 individuals to run for public office and then training a select few in depth through a six-month fellowship. I also organized “Professor for a Day” event for local legislators, allowing local legislators to join classes at the college as an honorary professor. I performed candidate screenings for UFMDC endorsements in election years, sent political “calls-to-action” via email, performed monthly visits to Miami-Dade and Broward County legislative offices during legislative session, and maintained and utilized NationBuilder program, software for coordination of large campaigns. I also electronically submitted political filings for UFMDC Political Committee account.I also performed all communication tasks related to union. This included managing membership communications via mail, email, and phone. I also maintained and utilized the robocall machine to make 20+ pre-recorded phone calls at the same time.As office manager, I performed all administrative tasks related to union. I created and balanced budget, monitored financials, and cut all checks. I organized, as well as set agenda and prepared necessary documents for, monthly executive board meetings and quarterly general membership meetings. I created and maintained yearly calendar, developed and maintained the office filing system, reviewed and filed minutes of both executive board and general membership meetings, developed and maintained UFMDC website, and managed all daily operations of UFMDC office.
