Chief Executive Officer

The Burlington Music Dojo hosts a collective of independent Vermont musicians, teachers and professionals serving all of Chittenden County. Our main thing is instrument lessons, and when you take lessons with one of us, you interact directly with your teacher...no go-betweens for scheduling, payment or answers. This is a co-op of sorts for locally based, professional music teachers, and we're expanding into other music services.
 
Most of us grew up right here and we live in Williston, South Burlington, Colchester, Essex, Burlington and love representing the vibrant, diverse and artistic spirit of our beautiful area and state. Our group is very active in the local scene and beyond (we're a pretty accomplished crew folks). We've been in the magazines, we play the venues, make the road trips...we've spent the hours, studied the theory and live the experience. Music is amazing and we're here to share that with you!

Primary oversight on financial management, human resources, marketing, website/reservation software, retail operations, merchandise design, and general management of New York sites, as well as general shared oversight across all locations.

Grew start-up venture through the global pandemic to become an established leader in emerging railbike tourism industry. 

By the end of 2021, we had: 
■ Achieved 5 yr CAGRs > 75% across revenue, net income, and assets; 
■ Developed a popular and profitable branded merchandise portfolio; 
■ Established operations at five locations in three states (New York, New Jersey, and Colorado); 
■ Delighted over 150,000 customers across all locations; 
■ Grown our employee base to 7 full-time year-round employees and >50 seasonal employees; and 
■ Built a supportive, organic social media presence:  65K followers on Facebook, 15K followers on Instagram, and viral videos with views in the tens of millions.

This globally-renowned two-year program develops and refines one's understanding of biomimicry theory, applications and methodology through a mixture of online coursework and in-person sessions. Participants are instructed by thought leaders in the field and the program is led by Biomimicry 3.8 co-founder, Dr. Dayna Baumeister.

Each BPro cohort is a balanced mix of designers, biologists, engineers, business people and those with strong sustainability training and backgrounds. By selecting individuals from these and their related sub-disciplines, we foster a truly interdisciplinary learning experience.

The program is competitive and attracts participants from around the world, and prepares graduates to address solutions to some of the most pressing and varied global challenges, such as climate change, resistance to antibiotics, toxic chemical proliferation, and fair and healthy housing.

The First Movers Fellowship is offered by the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program whose mission is to equip business leaders for the 21st century with a new management paradigm – the vision and knowledge to integrate corporate profitability and social value. 

The Fellowship is for exceptional institutional intrapreneurs – accomplished innovators recognized as top performers in their companies.  And they have a compelling idea about a new product, service, business process or model they urgently want to implement that will help their companies develop a culture in which business success is defined in financial, social and environmental terms. 

The First Movers Fellowship experience offers these individuals a chance to become part of a growing community of innovators who share a passion about their work and belief in the new possibilities for business. It also serves as an innovation lab where Fellows develop the skills to make their innovations real and successful in their organizations.

Fellows are trained in systems thinking, developing personal and professional visions, and reflective conversation in order to enhance their effectiveness in envisioning, creating and implementing sustainability-related programs across a wide range of sectors and issues areas. 

Today, the network represents an array of fields, including renewable energy, climate, water, sustainable agriculture and land management, forestry, marine ecology, poverty eradication, social entrepreneurship, corporate social responsibility, media for social change, philanthropy, indigenous rights, youth, and gender equity.
