Larry Chu is a well-known physician, academic, and researcher who currently heads the Anesthesia Informatics and Media (AIM) lab at Stanford University. As an accomplished Professor of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine on the faculty of the Stanford University School of Medicine, Chu is also the Executive Director of Stanford Medicine X, an esteemed conference that aims to bring technological advancements into the practice of medicine, ultimately improving health outcomes and patient care. He is passionate about exploring the potential of emerging technologies and information platforms to enhance medical education and collaboration among researchers, and has been actively studying opioid analgesic tolerance and physical dependence in an NIH-funded clinical research laboratory.

Chu has a rich academic background, having successfully completed MS degrees in Epidemiology and Biochemistry from Stanford University and Brandeis University, respectively. He subsequently obtained his MD degree from Stanford University School of Medicine and has served in various leadership roles throughout his distinguished career. He has previously held editorial board positions for the American Society of Anesthesiologists®, The BMJ, and Intellisphere LLC, among many other accomplishments. Chu is an active member of the Society for Participatory Medicine and is widely respected as an expert in his field.
