Tom Hynek is a highly experienced design thinking expert, known for collaborating with clients to create innovative product and service ideas that prioritize the needs of customers. With over 20 years in the industry, Tom has worked with leading international design and innovation firms like Doblin Group and IDEO Munich, where he led cross-disciplinary teams on projects spanning a range of B2C and B2B industries, as well as the public sector. Clients he has worked with include Airbus, BMW, BP, and Whirlpool, to name just a few.

Tom's expertise lies in empathizing with people, inspiring human-centered design solutions, and understanding their stories through the lens of market trends and business factors. His skillsets include Design Thinking Methodologies, Empathy-Based Research, Opportunity Definition, Concept Development and Roadmapping, Prototyping and Field Testing, Usability Research, Project Leadership, Workshop Moderation, Design Thinking Education, and Photography and Filmmaking. Tom is also fluent in both English and German.

Currently, Tom is the Founder and Research Lead at Design Research Consulting SARL, where he continues to help companies place the needs of people at the heart of their innovation strategies. He also serves as a former UX Research Lead at Huawei Technologies, former Global Insights Lead at MADE Design, and former faculty member at 180° Academy.
