Our current focus is on robots in retail, leveraging the power of autonomous robots to immersively map complex indoor environments. For retail this improves planogram compliance. The impact of store layouts which don't match product planograms has been estimated as high as an 8% revenue loss. These virtual maps will also reduce stockouts and eventually will make retail stores more accessible to everyone, especially individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

I am launching the US subsidiary of AME Communicate Ltd and am responsible for all aspects of establishing the US business entity and opening the North American market. AME Communicate is an adaptive technology and communications company which creates technology that assists in providing and promoting independence to those with a disability. We are able to adapt any type of hardware so that it then becomes suitable for a user with an impairment.

Served in a Chief of Staff role while managing all business aspects of the research activities at the Pennsylvania site.• Directed an organization which provided strategic, operational and business support for Basic Research, PreClinical Development and Facility organizations located at the main Pennsylvania campus and several satellite sites.• Led an organization of fifteen which provided business and strategic planning support for eight Vice Presidents with 1150 scientific headcount, $315 million expense plan, and $30 million capital plan.• Led the east coast integration for the $1.1 billion Sirna acquisition, including five distinct Basic Research and PreClinical functions with headcount that increased from 50 to ~ 100 in first year.• Developed and implemented the concept for an empowered team of 30 bench scientists who identified and implemented changes in the labs, including increased utilization of robotic technology, 30% reduction in alarm dispatches, implementation of a $2 million day shift cleaning initiative, and establishment of various technical and employee development training forums.• Led one of four teams which identified critical issues and opportunities to increase the involvement and success of individuals who are differently abled in the work force.• Mentored individuals from chemical engineering, neuroscience, and IT to ensure they achieved their full potential.

My family has been personally affected by the rather sudden loss of vision associated with age-related macular degeneration.  Montgomery County Association for the Blind's mission is to enhance the quality of life and independence of people coping with blindness and vision impairment through rehabilitation, education, support and advocacy.  They are a wonderful organization, and were instrumental in restoring my Mom's independence after she lost her sight.

Directed all aspects of the development and management of the global Research Division long range capital plan.• Reduced Capital Plan from $1 billion to less than $200 million annually (2000 – 2005) by employing a portfolio of capital effectiveness initiatives with engineering, more aggressive capital management processes, and expanded use of sourcing to improve a critical return on assets metric.• Served as the primary capital planning liaison for global leaders at multiple US sites and key research sites in Canada, England, France, Italy, and smaller sites in South America and Japan.• Led the development and subsequent evolution of a Capital Review Committee, which reviewed and approved all projects > $1 million with a focus on project-specific drivers as well as alignment with local and global strategies.• Led rapid increase in the Capital Plan from $75 million to $1 billion annually during a period of accelerated company growth (1994-1999); processing requirements more than doubled to ~ 4,000 projects per year while only adding one additional headcount.• Led a Six Sigma project to design and establish a standardized laboratory technology selection and acquisition process, projected to save millions of dollars (5-10% of the annual lifecycle cost).

Designed and implemented capital projects at remote Merck & Co., Inc. sites in Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. •	Managed sixteen salaried and sixty Union personnel in the operation and maintenance of all HVAC and Refrigeration equipment serving Corporate, Manufacturing, and Research Division personnel at the New Jersey site. •	Supervised ten Union personnel in the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of all HVAC and Refrigeration equipment for a 300,000 square foot research facility at the Pennsylvania site.

Served as a surface warfare and nuclear power qualified officer with final rank of Lieutenant Commander.•	Served as the Main Propulsion Assistant (MPA) for the USS Arkansas (CGN-41).•	Served as an engineering shift supervisor during shipyard construction, commissioning, and sea trials for the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70).•	Nominated as National Instructor of the Year while transforming a cross-enrollment Naval ROTC program into an autonomous organization, which provided a significant input into the Navy's premier programs: aviation and nuclear propulsion.
