Director, Venture Miami Opportunity Program

Founder and CEO of Black Professionals Network created following the successful development of the Black Professionals Summit (2014). Responsible for building an organization, laying out the foundation, and carrying out the mission statement of the group. Black Professionals Network ("BPN") is a 501(c)3 membership-based non-profit organization. Known for its award-winning annual Black Professionals Summit conference ("BPSummit") held annually in Miami, Florida. The organization serves to foster leadership skills in aspiring, emerging, and excelling black professionals. Throughout the year, members gain access, resources, and discounts to programming and events with the mission to boost their career profile and lifestyle goals.

As former Miami President managed the following:
Lead and supervise ten board members, 12 program coordinators, and five executive directors. Managing the performance of the team, setting strategic goals monthly, quarterly, and yearly. Provide a process to streamline reporting and dissemination of information through innovative solutions and software.

Created six professional development programs focused on career, entrepreneurship, housing, financial literacy, politics, and mentorship and supervised a team of coordinators and volunteers to consistently hold three to four events and workshops each month.

Black Professionals Network

Founder and CEO

Operated by the Florida State Minority Supplier Diversity Council (FSMSDC) is the operator of the Minority Business Development Agency’s Orlando and Miami Business Centers. The Centers deliver business consulting services to minority-owned firms (MBEs), providing them with increased access to public and private sector contracting opportunities, financing and capital investment. My role is to develop and fine tune their business models by creating sound infrastructures that balance legal principles and operational sustainability in each company’s industries. In addition, formulate marketing plans and strategies to identify, attract and retain ideal clients while building strong digital brand impressions. Furthermore, assist minority firms with obtaining large-scale contracts and financial transactions; accessing corporate supply chains; facilitating joint ventures, teaming arrangements, mergers and acquisitions; conducting export transactions; and performing minority business advocacy.  The Centers helped minority businesses with more than $370 million in transactions and the creation of more than 1000 new jobs.

Overall duties include:
- Conduct organizational assessments of businesses and implement action plans
- Develop loan package for local banks, alternative financing entities, and venture capital firms
- Secure financial transactions for minority-owned businesses
- Secure procurement opportunities for MBEs
- Conduct assessments of the high-growth capacity of minority-owned businesses
- Develop KPI assessments for MBEs to increase levels  of  performance  and productivity
- Gather monthly tracking and reporting of performance metrics.
- Provide training for MBEs
- Report monthly tracking and performances metrics
- Advocate on behalf of MBEs

I began this position initially as an intern and my value was quickly assessed and upon graduating law school was offered a full-time position in March 2015 and became Senior Staffer in October 2015 where I am lead in managing the staff and affairs of the office. As a political aide I have to utilize a multitude of skills that include research, writing, lobbying, organizing, and brand design and marketing. A fast paced district with multi-layered issues this exposed me to the relationships of public and private sectors. Our office is instrumental in the development of the ‘Small Business Enterprise’ program and pushing the policy guidelines for minority and women business owners.  This became useful to learn the relationship with businesses and small governments and hone viable knowledge in this area. My job responsibilities thus also include assisting the Office of Economic Opportunities in connecting businesses and individuals (specifically in District 2) with opportunities in the school system. Recruiting strategic partners within the community and aligning them to schools and programs. Additionally, manage staff and day to day operations of the office; such as procurement/purchasing, travel and budget.

Administrative Policy Clerk to Board Member, Dr. Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall

Clerkship program: learned the intrinsic details of the foreclosure process primarily through the side of the Plaintiff. Assisted in the management of 500+ sub-prime foreclosure accounts for multiple clients. Monitored foreclosure process alongside a team of high-level attorneys and support staff. Formulated documents and spreadsheets to aide in the analysis and tracking of the litigation, trial and post-judgment practice.  Executed affidavits, motion for summary and final judgment packets, docket retrieval, hearing setting, and maintaining “Service Members Civil Relief Act (SCRA)” compliances. Organize, file and draft pertinent client matters and correspondences with professionalism and confidentially. Skillful in Perfect Practice Case Management, 3E Live, Loan Processing Service (LPS) and Serengeti platforms.

- Increased membership from 30-50 members to 330 active members within one academic semester

- Oversee a budget of $45,000

President of Black Student Union

- Served as President of the Senate, led the complete restructuring of the internal body of Student Government Association, implementing the State of Florida standard of governing laws known as statutes

- Oversaw the duties of the legislative committee chairs within the Senate, and began the process of codifying Senate bylaws to be written and practiced

- Served as one of the executive leadership members on the University-Wide Council of Student Government Association

- Served as voting member and aided in the delegation of a $10 million budget

Vice President of Student Government

Vice Chair of the National People of Color Student Coalition (2008-2009):

-  Aide the Chair in the national goals of the organization & coalition

- Aided the DREAM Act campaign on a national level

- Lobby on behalf of students for government action towards higher education on the state

Southeast Regional Chair (2007-2008):

- Lobbied on behalf of students nationwide on higher education but with a specific interest to the needs of the southeastern region

- Increased membership to an additional two active universities within the region and aided in the efforts of solidifying FIU’s presence within the organization

- Met with Senators and Representatives on the federal and state level to advocate the student campaign towards higher education

- Facilitated workshops on the powers of lobbying and setting a political agenda
