James Sharrock
James Sharrock, a retired lawyer who practiced in Texas and Oklahoma for over 40 years, has become a respected member of the organ transplant community. After receiving a heart and liver transplant in 2016, Jim retired in 2018 but has continued to lend his experience and expertise to a number of related organizations. In 2018, he joined the board of LifeShare Oklahoma Donor Services, Inc., which promotes organ donation, works with donor families, and manages recovery and delivery of donated organs to transplant centers in Oklahoma. The following year, he was appointed to the Patient Affairs Committee of OPTN/UNOS as the Region 4 member. OPTN/UNOS is a non-profit that manages the Organ Transportation and Procurement Network under contract with the federal government. In 2020, Jim was elected to the OPTN/UNOS Board of Directors and appointed to the Finance and Liver and Intestine Transplant Committee. Jim is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma where he earned both his Bachelor's degree in Economics and Juris Doctorate law degree. Prior to retirement, he practiced law at the firm McAfee & Taft in Oklahoma City. Before that, he lived and worked in Amarillo, Texas from 1973-1985, engaged in the real estate development business and practicing law at the firm of Gibson, Ochsner, and Adkins.
