OceanSound is a private equity firm, specializing in technology investments under $1B that display a level of ‘complexity’ in their structure or offering. As a summer analyst, I developed an adaptive Bayesian ranking algorithm for prospective investments, scoring companies by matching attributes, obtained through web-scraping, to past successful investments. In addition to this technical work, I performed research and mapped markets involving new technologies such as 5G.

Bedgear is a B2C company selling performance bedding to consumers. I led a team with the goals of analyzing the company’s advertising efforts and developing strategies to optimize reach to the selected target segment and increase conversions/customer acquisition through rigorous hypothesis testing. I performed an analysis of the return on advertising spend (ROAS) Bedgear was obtaining from its various customer segments using data from Google AdWords to isolate its most valuable target segments.

OTG is a multinational organization that specializes in managing airport terminals. Ranked among the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies, the company developed an original game rewards system for ordering food through iPads in airport terminal restaurants. For my first project, I designed the structure for a game, developed a rewards finance system, and translated my vision to code. Along with the technical skills I learned and practiced, I gained entrepreneurial insight on how to tailor a product to its users. I conducted consumer choice analyses exploring habits of users– games they played, items they purchased– and constantly adapted my project accordingly.I worked with OTG on a second project during the second half of May in 2018. OTG uses a food recommendation algorithm to give users suggestions for additional items to add to their cart (based on items already added). The purpose of my project was to correlate the amount of time a consumer spent on a page of the restaurant menu (dwell time) with the likelihood that they would add an item from the same page. My project's findings were then used to further optimize the recommendation algorithm.
