Project Manager WAN Development

Responsible for the successful implementation of one of the largest Novell based Wide Area Network / Metropolitan Area Networks in the Province of British Columbia.  Also responsible for all software/hardware recommendations for the projects successful completion.

- Implemented a WAN system supporting the following protocols: IPX/SPX, LAT, TCP/IP, AppleTalk, EtherTalk, X.25 and DecNet.  This WAN utilized 19.2Kb to 256Kb X.25 leased lines, and a MAN utilizing 100MB FDDI.  The WAN/MAN used Cisco Router technology.  This WAN/MAN connected almost 2000 intelligent workstations and dumb terminals to BCSC's network containing 30,000 nodes with multiple IBM mainframes and DEC VAX clusters.
- Co-coordinated the efforts of 30 End User Support Analysts across the Province of British Columbia to successfully implement WAN technology at the sites under their control.
- Prototyped techniques to have distributed Oracle SQL databases in strategic locations across the province.
- Prototyped Geographical Information Systems utilizing distributed database servers.  Database server platforms included Intel on a Dell 433SE, Sun Spark II, and Motorola 68030 on an Apple MacIntosh II FX.\
- Replaced existing IBM Profs and DEC All-In-One based mail system with Microsoft Mail based mail systems throughout the province.  Implemented e-mail gateways between Microsoft mail and government based mail systems.
- Responsible for intensive research and development product testing.
