Michael Markowsky, an accomplished Canadian artist and writer, has a diverse background steeped in travel, exploration and innovation. Markowsky merges painting and performance in his visual art creations and has showcased his unique approach worldwide. He has produced artwork while traveling on moving cars, boats, trains, and even dog sleighs. Markowsky has also walked the pilgrimage route of the "Camino de Santiago" in Spain, translating his experience into art.

In 2013, Markowsky produced 100 landscape drawings while flying in a CF-18 "Hornet" fighter jet plane at supersonic speeds as part of the Canadian War Artist program. In 2012, he painted landscapes 'en plein air' at the North Pole. Recently, Markowsky's work has been the subject of a 25-minute documentary film by filmmaker Mike Peterson.

Markowsky holds an MFA degree in fine art painting and film from Art Center in Los Angeles, California, and has taught drawing at Emily Carr University of Art in Vancouver. He has the distinction of touring Canada twice with the indie-rock band "Brasstronaut," projecting live painting, and animations on huge screens above the stage.

With specialties in video and film production, video editing, graphic design, page layout, web design, animation, sound recording, and editing, oil painting, drawing, and illustration, Markowsky is a jack of all trades.
