Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science (M.S.) from The University of Texas at Austin. As a former Associate Professor of Practice and Medical Education at the University of Texas, Lopez has an in-depth understanding of the educational sector.

In his professional experience, he has worked as the Design Institute for Health's Managing Director and Global Lead, Systems Design at IDEO. Lopez also founded and was the Executive Director of DesignRun.Org.

Lopez's expertise covers product design, innovation strategy, consumer experience design, and systems design. Additionally, he has a background in sustainability, having been a Product Designer/Domain Lead at IDEO.
