Basil Yap is a civil engineering specialist with over a decade of experience in transportation and project management. He holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University. Mr. Yap has gained recognition for his analytical and leadership skills throughout his career, which he uses to support maximum operational output with minimal resource expenditure.
Currently, Basil is serving as the UAS Program Manager for the North Carolina Department of Transportation Division of Aviation, where he designs, establishes, and conducts studies to inform policy recommendations relative to unmanned aerial systems (UAS). Moreover, he liaises with the FAA to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and to promote the responsible use of UAS. In the past, Mr. Yap has served in roles such as UAS IPP Manager, airport project manager, and assistant resident engineer at NCDOT.
