Director of Partnerships and Engagement at Imerman Angels One-on-One Cancer Support

As part of the Senior Management Team, the Director of Partnerships and Engagement is responsible for identifying, reaching out to, and building a strong and diverse network of Mentor Angels, Support Seekers and Cancer Partner Organizations.  The role supervises the Mentor Support Specialist to help support their efforts to ensure program excellence and growth. Responsible for the development of new training and engagement opportunities for our community members and staff while overseeing all outreach programs with hospitals, healthcare organizations, and cancer partners including communications, staffing, volunteer participation, training, logistics and the development of materials.

Imerman Angels carefully matches and individually pairs a person touched by cancer (a cancer fighter or survivor) with someone who has fought and survived the same type of cancer (a Mentor Angel). Cancer caregivers (spouses, parents, children and other family and friends of fighters) also receive 1-on-1 connections with other caregivers and survivors. These 1-on-1 relationships inspire hope and offer the chance to ask personal questions and receive support from someone who is uniquely familiar with the experience. The service is absolutely free and helps anyone touched by any type of cancer, at any cancer stage level, at any age, living anywhere in the world. •       Provide customer service and quality assurance on a daily basis using Salesforce
•	Manage and train new Cancer Support Specialists and Interns
•	Created a “Cancer Support Specialist Guidebook” which trains new volunteers and employees about the position of a Specialist.
•	Aided in the implementation of automatic surveys for quicker and more accurate time saving feedback
•	Tested and trained all personnel on Google Talk and Skype for both National and International calling
•	Established a method to save the organization 50% while using a language translating service
•	Trained personnel to use the language translating service
•	Implementation of a Volunteer/Cancer Support Specialist checklist of training
•	Daily calls to access new Mentor Angels and those looking for support

Cancer Support Specialist

Improving the quality of life for cancer fighters, survivors, previvors and caregivers by helping provide a peer to peer cancer support community
● Creating systems and protocols to ensure ease of use internally and external ensuring participant satisfaction 
● Training a team of Cancer Support Specialists to provide a reassuring, calm, nurturing and empathetic presence in all interactions – phone, in-person, digitally
● Creating and maintaining meaningfully and mutually-beneficial relationships with Cancer Partner Organizations 
● Staying current and maintaining knowledge regarding cancer types, sub-types, treatments, procedures, cancer-industry events, organizations and news
● Developing external partnerships that will amplify Imerman Angels’ brand and reach
● Manage all outreach programs with hospitals, health care organizations, and medical partners including communications, staffing, training, logistics and the development of materials
● Managing the Ambassador program with the goal of improving strategies that create
new opportunities for Imerman Angels’ presence and outreach outside Chicago
● Maintaining and consistently enhancing training protocols for staff, volunteers, and interns to ensure the highest level of service to the community we serve
● Maintain and improve Salesforce workflow to provide the best possible matches
for our community
● Identifying, suggesting, and implementing improvements to all connections-related activities and tools as well as outreach opportunities to continue spreading Imerman Angels’ mission to help more and more cancer fighters, previvors, survivors and caregivers
● Developing and organizing measurement and tracking mechanisms to assess quality
and quantity of matches and impact
● Support management-level projects, outreach, events, planning and more
● Served as the direct Supervisor for close to a hundred volunteers/interns to ensure they had a learning, nurturing, enjoyable opportunity while serving our mission

•	Set up recruiters to give presentations about their programs at their school
•	Organized career fairs that provided students the opportunity to hear first hand from the professionals in their field of interest

•	Kept records about the animals’ behavior, weight and overall being

•	Raised approximately $125,000 for the American Cancer       Society through fundraisers such as car washes, team sponsored rummage sales, restaurant fundraiser nights, email solicitations, donor letters to individuals and corporations  
•	Campaigned for monetary donations and in-kind donations through various corporations
•	Annually facilitated a drive for Locks of Love amounting in approximately 60 donations
•	Contributed in the making of a video advertising for Relay For Life to be shown at a local church 

EVENT PLANNING

•	Networked and conducted marketing efforts for events hosting 1,000 or more people at a time

EVENT PLANNING
•	Administered all planning  of the “Pepsi Pass, Punt & Kick” event for approximately 1200 people

•	Responsible for awarding all prizes and sponsorship plaques to all involved
•	Lead a Charity Drive for fire victims that resulted in 300 boxes of used and new clothing, hygiene, food and home items and over $700
