Bunmi Oyinsan is a highly experienced professional in the non-profit sector with a focus on women and youth empowerment in Nigeria. She has coordinated, designed, and implemented various projects addressing economic empowerment, capacity building, advocacy for women's rights, and reproductive rights. Bunmi has also been instrumental in assisting women and youths affected by domestic violence, offering them safe havens and support for economic independence. She is a co-founder of Lekki Peninsula College and Lekki Peninsula Affordable Schools, institutions providing quality and affordable education at different levels in Nigeria. Her advocacy work goes beyond traditional methods, often incorporating popular culture and the arts like television, film, and theatre to highlight issues concerning youth, gender, social justice, and domestic abuse. Bunmi is also a published author of several novels, short stories, and plays, showcasing her diverse literary talent. She has played a significant role in various literary associations and served as Chairperson of the Lagos State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors. With a strong academic background, Bunmi holds a Ph.D. in Gender/Women/Film, a Post Doctoral Research in Gender/Women/New Media, and an M.A. in Gender/Women/Literature from reputable universities. After relocating to Canada, she continued her impactful work by directing stage productions, producing television programs, and serving on the board of TelAfric Inc, promoting representational equity through various media platforms.
