This program systematically matches high-performing start-ups of the Chicago region with large companies from across the globe. Large companies that participate in this program express their desired needs to us relating to technologies, products, services, categories and industries that provide them value. Utilizing a start-up database of Chicago Innovation Awards nominees, we find start-ups working on relevant products, services, technologies, etc. and bring them to the large companies in need through demo days and individual introductions.

The Innovators Connection worked with 20 large organizations (including such organizations as Cisco, Dell, UPS, Exelon, Grainger, Tyson, and Redbox) to identify and match start-ups to their need areas. In the first year pilot, over 500 matches were identified for these 20 companies, and over 100 connections through one-on-one meetings and demo days were made.

Research Consultants research and analyze businesses and industries, assisting in setting up and conducting qualitative consumer research, such as focus groups, ethnographic/observational research, and in-home interviews. We analyze consumer data, ultimately creating and presenting reports to client teams. We are immediately involved in developing new client relationships and selling new business.

• Direct nomination research and manage nomination process by analyzing new products and services (including market impact, uniqueness, depth and intensity of opportunity area addressed, competitive offerings, and end-user benefits). 

• Lead research initiatives to establish innovation thought leadership. Directed and led research for the book, "lnnovating...Chicago-Style," which examines past winners of the Chicago Innovation Awards from 2002 to 2010. Conducted over 70 interviews, analyzed interviews and data, synthesized key themes and subject areas, and designed format and layout. 

• Develop program through new business opportunities, partnerships, event management, marketing initiatives, and sponsor acquisition & relations.

• Creative ideation, vision, design, and direction. Designed/implemented the Chicago Innovation Awards of 2012s $2.5 million and 2013's $3.5 million ad campaign spanning online/digital, radio, television, outdoor, and print mediums (including placement in Crain's Chicago Business, Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune, Fast Company, Chicago Transit Authority buses/trains, & various other outlets).
