Bruce J. Brown, Dr.P.H., is the Associate Vice President for Safety and Business Continuity at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He has been with the institution since 2014 and brings over 20 years of experience in safety services, emergency management, and risk management specifically tailored for academic medical centers. His role involves overseeing a diverse department that focuses on client service and includes various hazard-specific safety programs, environmental compliance, emergency management, business continuity, and risk and insurance services, including workers’ compensation.12
Dr. Brown earned his doctorate from the UT Health School of Public Health in Houston and has an academic affiliation with the institution. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. Prior to his current position, he served as the Director for Environmental Health and Safety at the UT Health Science Center at Houston.12
In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Brown holds several professional certifications: Certified Biological Safety Professional (CBSP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), and Associate in Risk Management (ARM) .2
