Brittany Garley

Brittany Britto Garley is an award-winning journalist and features reporter known for her coverage of culture and marginalized communities.

She currently serves as a higher education reporter at the Houston Chronicle, focusing on Houston and areas in Texas.

Brittany's notable work includes a series on the culture and underfunding of Texas HBCUs, funded by the Education Writers Association.

Previously, she was a features blogger and reporter at The Baltimore Sun, highlighting arts, entertainment, local notables, travel, and quirky events in the Baltimore area.

Brittany is a two-time graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park, with degrees in English literature and composition, and multiplatform journalism.
