Brian Slipka is the Managing Partner and Co-Owner of the Sioux Falls Canaries baseball team, which he acquired in March 2021 along with Anthony Albanese and Sam Swartz.12 He is the founder and CEO of True North Family of Companies, a portfolio of small and lower middle market businesses.3 Slipka also serves as the CEO of True North M&A, Sunbelt Business Advisors, and is a founder and partner at Honour Capital.3
Slipka has a personal connection to Sioux Falls, as he was born there and his mother grew up in the area.1 As the new owner of the Canaries, he has expressed commitment to improving the baseball experience for fans and strengthening the American Association of Professional Baseball.2 Under his leadership, the team has seen improvements, including a new scoreboard and infield turf, and achieved its first winning season since 2010 in 2023.4
In addition to his business ventures, Slipka has shown a commitment to community involvement by launching the "Canaries Community Fund" in May 2021 to support charitable organizations and causes in South Dakota.5
