Brett Bruyere

Brett Bruyere is an expert in environmental communication and protected areas with a focus on research and teaching.

He serves as the academic director of the conservation leadership graduate program at Colorado State University.

Brett has international experience collaborating with local communities and universities in east Africa on sustainability planning, environmental education, and training conservation professionals.

In 2010, he co-founded the Samburu Youth Education Fund aiming to provide secondary school access to youth from the Samburu region of northern Kenya.

Additionally, Brett initiated a community-based tourism venture in Kenya in 2012 known as 'Uso Africa Safari' to create authentic person-to-person experiences for clients and support local communities by reinvesting profits.

He holds a Ph.D. in Natural Resources/Environmental Communication from Colorado State University and a B.A. in Environmental Science and Political Science from Washington State University.

Brett Bruyere currently works as an associate professor at Colorado State University and has held positions as the Director at Colorado State University and Co-founder of the Samburu Youth Education Fund.
