During his tenure as Director of Global Engagement at the White House, Brett oversaw various crucial programs including public diplomacy, international media, crisis communications, and global entrepreneurship initiatives.

He is credited with coining the term counter-crisis management theory and was involved in leading the U.S. Government's response to Russian propaganda in 2014.
